About Us
About Our Research Team
John Rinn’s Lab studies RNA, focusing on how long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) regulate biological processes. We combine research and education to unlock the secrets of the human genome. Our goal is to deepen understanding of RNA’s roles in health and disease. Through computational and experimental approaches, we explore the functions and mechanisms of RNA molecules that do not code for proteins but control gene activity and cell organization. We aim to make these discoveries accessible by teaching others through free, open courses.
Rinn Lab Awards and Recognitions
John Rinn’s Lab Awards and Recognitions
John Rinn is an established world leader in Molecular Biology, Genetics, and noncoding RNA. For example, John Rinn was named “Top 10 Young Geniuses Shaking Up Science Today” by Popular Science and being selected as PopTech Fellow. As well as the highly competitive NIH Directors Award, selected as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Faculty Scholar. The National Academy of Sciences recognized John Rinn’s pioneering research as a “Distinctive Voice”. John Rinn was also awarded the Damon Runyon Foundation Innovation Award. Overall, John Rinn is considered 3rd in the world for noncoding RNA research and top 1% of most influential scientists in both Molecular Biology and Genetics.
